“Joan of Arc”

My father, Rick Sawa, and I arranged this version of Leonard Cohen’s song on a three-track EP as a Christmas present for my Mum this past year. I sing and play violin on this recording, and Rick plays guitar.

This recording was produced in three sessions with Jay Alton and John Fintel at Relay Recording in December 2009.

“Body” Acoustic

I hope you’ll forgive the rough cut at the beginning of this video. It was filmed at Mapleton Manor, a private residence and showspace.

The public can buy Flotation Walls’ debut album, NATURE, on iTunes or directly. Writers and industry professionals may request promotional copies.

I committed a full-time (job-quitter) touring circuit with Flotation Walls from July 2009 to January 2010. I play keyboards, Glockenspiel, guitar, violin and voice.

“Kids, Look at the Waves” Acoustic

Juliet Fromholt hosted a five-song live on-air performance from Flotation Walls on her music program, Kaleidoscope. This song was recorded in a single take at the WYSO studio.

Violin double-stops replace the women’s voices conceived for the album version of “Kids”. You’ll hear me simultaneously sustaining harmonies with voice and violin on this recording.

“I’ve Seen Death and His Tremendous Pink Eyes”

This song was recorded as part of a seven-track Band In Boston Flophouse Session during the second leg of Flotation Walls’ 2009 tour. This was my first time playing a Hammond organ, and the part was unrehearsed. You can also hear me singing.

EROTIC FOUNTAIN ONE
The statue depicts the hunter Diana and her bathing nymphs “surprised” by lecherous Satyrs.
Artists have historically depicted this same scene as a morality play, with only occasional hints of the erotic. To me, this visceral contemporary piece exalts the triumph of lust over chastity.

“Havana”

Valerie Glenn sings gorgeous original songs under the alias Time & Temperature. In 2009 we recorded this song for a two-track 7” split with Jordan O’ Jordan. You’ll hear me on violin and backing vocals. Valerie and Sven Kahns on guitar.

Recorded and collaboratively mixed in one three-hour session by David Fowler of Moon High. All rights reserved to Time & Temperature.
